How to Make a 4-Channel Chronic Electrode?

Materials:

  • California fine wire
  • plastic plate(should not be too thick, <1mm)
  • Solder wire
  • Solder paste
  • Silicon tube
  • Forceps
  • One normal scissor
  • Another sharp scissor (cut electrode only)
  • Normal wires
  • Needle
  • Female pins and Male pins
  • Instant glue
  • AB Glue
  • A4 Paper,
  • Paper tape
  • Stick

Procedures:

First, cut the plastic plate into a concave shape. The recess is a rectangle with a length of at least 4-5 cm and a width of at least 2 cm.

Second, place the silicon tube row in the center of the rectangle and make sure that the two sides are neatly aligned. The two terminals of the silicon tube are first fixed with paper tape, and then the four tubes are sticked together with instant glue. After the instant glue is dried, fix it again with AB glue.

Third, after the AB glue dries, cut the tube from the middle, leaving at least 3 cm for clearance.

At this time, the prepared electrode wire is passed from the silicon tube at one end to the silicon tube at the other end using forceps.

Gently straighten the wire and secure it with paper tape.

Use a clip to fix the plastic plate and maintain a certain bending angle, and then fix it with AB glue several times.

The next day, two L-shaped holders were made, and the holder was fixed under the wire with instant glue. At this time, use an electrode-specific scissors to cut it from the middle and pull the other end of the electrode out of the silicon tube.

Prepare the female pin and fix it with a clip. Now, make some conduits tube(wrap the wires around the needle, and pull them out). Place the conduit on the female pin, then peel off the insulation of the California wire, insert it into the conduit, and fix it with solder.

Lastly, fix the electrode by using hot melt adhesive to prevent short circuiting of the animal body fluid.
